TECHSURVEY11 which will have its debut at the upcoming WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT 2015 at noon on APRIL 23rd – consists of more than 41,000 respondents representing well more than 200 radio stations across NORTH AMERICA.   The surveys were completed in JANUARY through early FEBRUARY.  THE JACOBS MEDIA team – with partners NUVOODOO – has been busily compiling the data and searching for new insights.

JACOBS MEDIA Pres. FRED JACOBS shared this info with ALL ACCESS, "APPLE's foray into the wearables race was met with great enthusiasm last week.  In anticipation of these devices emerging as 'the next big thing,' we included a question in TS11 that addressed initial interest in a smartwatch product.

"Even before the hype, the rumors, the leaked photos, and the actual APPLE WATCH announcement, there was interest in smart wearables.  More than a third (37%) of our massive sample indicates moderate to strong interest in the smartwatch.  Notably, women are on par with men in terms of their interest.

"Generationally, there is an obvious relationship that suggests the younger the respondent, the greater the interest. And both Hispanics and African-Americans express strong interest in this new tech/fashion category."

Different Apple Watch Styles

FRED added, "It is interesting to note that APPLE must have anticipated the potential for broad appeal across many diverse groups based on the variety of different styles and looks of the new APPLE WATCH.   Some say this design flexibility is un-APPLE-like, but based on these early numbers, making their wearable product attractive to lots of people appears to be a smart move.

"Smartwatches are just a part of the many areas we investigated this year in TS11.  We're excited to be on hand live at the WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT 2015 next month in L.A. to give you the inside look at this year's historic study."
