LKK GROUP CORP.'s sale of noncommercial NPR affiliate WVGN/CHARLOTTE AMALIE, VI to R.J. WATKINS VIRGIN ISLANDS RADIO ENTERTAINMENT DETROIT, LLC for $285,000 will lead to the station flipping to a commercial format, dropping all NPR programming, former owner KEITH BASS told the VIRGIN ISLAND DAILY NEWS.
The station, with new call letters WVIE, will take on "a contemporary music format with a talk component." WATKINS told the paper, saying that the new format will be on the air within "a couple of months."
