The plea deal arranged by three of BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE's attorneys in his defense of the case brought by rival host TODD SCHNITT to end the ethics complaint filed by the FLORIDA BAR against them has been rejected by a judge in the case, reports FOX O&O WTVT (TV) (FOX 13)/TAMPA.
STEPHEN DIACO, ROBERT ADAMS and ADAM FILTHAUT now face trial over allegedly setting up SCHNITT's attorney for a DUI charge.
STEPHEN DIACO (brother of BUBBA's attorney JOSEPH DIACO), ROBERT ADAMS and ADAM FILTHAUT, all accused of having worked with a TAMPA police sergeant and a legal aide for their firm to set up SCHNITT's attorney PHIL CAMPBELL with an arrest for a DUI. The charges were dropped after the attorneys' involvement was revealed.
The deal would have had STEPHEN DIACO surrender his license to practice law while ADAMS and FILHAUT would have been suspended for 91 days and would have had to petition the FLORIDA Supreme Court to be reinstated. Retired Judge DOUGLAS BAIRD, as a referee in the case, noted that the attorneys have declined to testify under oath about the incident and that they have a right to do so when the sanctions against ADAMS and FILHAUT "compared to the conduct alleged are disproportionate and unacceptable."
