The CROOK COUNTY/PRINEVILLE ROTARY and HORIZON BROADCASTING GROUP Country KRCO (AM 690/96.9 FM)/BEND, OR, raised $13,223 during the 20th annual DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS RADIOTHON, which was broadcast on APRIL 1st. The day-long radio broadcast (6a to 6p (PT) originated from the BOWMAN MUSEUM in downtown PRINEVILLE, and featured local Rotarians reading advertisements for local businesses and song requests from listeners who contributed to the ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP fund. To date, the ROTARY "Dollars For Scholars" program has raised over $200,000 to benefit CROOK COUNTYstudents.
“We have helped fund students to get educated in a variety of fields -- everything from linemen to medical doctors -- and many have come back to work here in PRINEVILLE,” said CROOK COUNTY President MIKE HORNBACK. “The investment our community has been made in over 200 students the past 20 years is really paying off.”
KRCO-A contributed the airtime to make the RADIOTHON possible, as it has since 1996. The station celebrated its 65th year of service to PRINEVILLE and CROOK COUNTY on FEBRUARY 1st. HORIZON BROADCASTING Group Operations Manager DAVE CLEMENS hosted the event.
