EAGLE'S NEST FELLOWSHIP CHURCH outside of MILTON, DE, will sell Contemporary Christian WKNZ (88.7 THE BRIDGE)/HARRINGTON, DE, to THE BRIDGE OF HOPE, a new, non-profity minstry. EAGLE NEST has owned the station since it signed on the air in DECEMBER, 2010. The CHURCH originally filed an application in 1998 with the FCC to build a new, 25,000 watt FM station in HARRINGTON, DE, which was finally granted in 2008.
After operating the radio ministry for over four years, EAGLE'S NEST will sell its radio station assets, pending approval from the FCC has decided to sell the radio station assets, pending approval from the FCC, filing its application to assign the license to THE BRIDGE OF HOPE on MARCH 18th.
The decision to launch the radio station into a separate entity was made several years ago, according to PASTOR BOB WEED at the MILTON, DE-based church, which also operates a CHRISTIAN school, an Early Learning Center, and a Campground.
“We see this as a win-win," said WEED. “We'll be able to focus more on our core ministries at the church and in education, and the radio station will be allowed to grow and explore new opportunities.”
The staff that has operated 88.7 THE BRIDGE, including all of its program hosts, will remain. And the station will remain a non-profit ministry, relying on listeners and community businesses and organizations for funding.
Station Manager BILL SAMMONS, who has been with THE BRIDGE since before it signed on, is excited about the future. “EAGLE'S NEST has always believed the radio station belonged to the community, not to just one church. We are grateful they are allowing the station to grow and develop new ministry opportunities in the broadcast and online media world.”
The FCC is expected to make its decision on the transfer within 90 days.
