The final tally for syndicated radio talk host and THEBLAZE TV video host DANA LOESCH's GOFUNDME campaign to raise funds to support embattled INDIANA restaurant MEMORIES PIZZA is $842,387.
LOESCH staffer/reporter LAWRENCE B. JONES III established the page to support the pizza shop after comments by a co-owner, CRYSTAL O'CONNOR, about the controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act law passed in INDIANA and how her restaurant would serve LGBT customers but would have a problem with catering a gay wedding became viral last week.
The fund itself became controversial, with opponents threatening to contact GOFUNDME claiming that the fund was fraudulent, but LOESCH says that the staff will be releasing the fund to the O'CONNOR family and coordinating with financial advisor ED BUTOWSKY pro bono. The INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TIMES reports that a countercampaign, "Love is Stronger than Hate," is seeking to raise more funds than LOESCH's campaign, with proceeds to go to the HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN, but has raised $648 of its $1 million goal since its establishment on FRIDAY (3/3).
