LEIGHTON RADIO HOLDINGS, INC. is buying ten stations from JERRY PAPENFUSS-owned companies -- News-Talk KBRF-A, Sports KJJK-A (THE GAME), Country KJJK-F (KJ COUNTRY 96.5 FM), and Rock KZCR (Z103.3)/FERGUS FALLS, MN and Hot AC KPRW (LAKES 99.5)/PERHAM, MN from RESULT RADIO, INC., and Country KAGE-A, Hot AC KAGE-F (KG-95.3), News-Talk KWNO-A, and AC KHME (SOFT ROCK 101.1)/WINONA, MN and Country KWNO-F/ASHFORD, MN from KAGE, INC. -- for $9 million.
In other filings with the FCC, LKCM RADIO GROUP, L.P. is selling Top 40 KFSZ (HITS 106)/MUNDS PARK-FLAGSTAFF, AZ to ROGER ANDERSON's SOUTHWEST MEDIA, INC. for $491.400. The buyer has been operating the station under an LMA since 2012.
HE'S ALIVE INCORPORATED is selling Religion WLIC (HE'S ALIVE RADIO)/FROSTBURG, MD to CALVARY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP OF CUMBERLAND, INC. for $75,000. The buyer will divest itself of low power FM WZZJ-LP/CUMBERLAND, MD.
In the wake of the death of DAVE WAGENVOORD, son SAM WAGENVOORD is selling his 25% interest in RADIO HAWAII, INC., licensee of News-Talk KWAI-A (K-108)/HONOLULU, to brother BARRY WAGENVOORD, who will end up with 50% of the company, for $10. The other half of the licensee is owned by WAGENVOORD ADVERTISING GROUP (RADIO WORLD INC.), itself 50% owned by the late DAVE WAGENVOORD; his interest is being inherited by wife LOLA WAGENVOORD.
FRONTIER BROADCAST HOLDINGS LLC is selling its 100% membership interests in EL DORADO BROADCASTERS LLC, licensee of clusters in VICTORVILLE, CA, SAN LUIS OBISPO-SANTA MARIA, CA, and YUMA, AZ, to MILOU INVESTORS LLC for $13.2 million ($500,000 cash, $12.7 million in a promissory note). The transaction is pro forma, leaving JASON R. WOLFF continuing with 100% voting control.

WOOD RIVER COMMUNITY YMCA has closed on the sale of noncommercial Variety KDPI (KDPI DROP-IN RADIO)/KETCHUM, ID to KDPI DROP-IN RADIO, INC. for $10.
CSN INTERNATIONAL has closed on the sale of W293CO/TALLAHASSEE, FL to EDGEWATER BROADCASTING, INC. for $25,000.
And AUGUSTA RADIO FELLOWSHIP INSTITUTE, INC. has closed on the sale of W272DM/GRIFFIN, GA to DONNA I. TAYLOR for $3,000. The translator will rebroadcast Oldies WKEU-A/GRIFFIN.
Also, LYNDON H. WIESEMAN has filed an informal objection to the proposed power increase of JOEL J. KINLOW's WGLB-A/ELK GROVE, WI, pleading with the Commission not to delete WZRK-A/LAKE GENEVA, WI but to reduce the latter's facilities to allow it to resume operations while giving WGLB a power increase. WIESEMAN says he has offered to purchase WZRK and asks that it be preserved on public interest grounds. The WZRK license was canceled and the calls deleted as per a letter from WGLB, LLC counsel DENISE B MOLINE, ESQ. dated JANUARY 15th; WGLB is seeking to increase to 2.5 kw days and maintain the current .25 kw nights (and add .7 kw critical hours) from a six-tower array.
Several informal objections have been filed against the move of THRESHOLD COMMUNICATIONS' unbuilt FM construction permit KVNW from CLATSKANIE, WA to NAPAVINE, WA, with several local organizations and politicians opposing removing the proposed station from CLATSKANIE for public service reasons.
Saga Picks Up VerStandig/Harrisonburg Cluster
In a deal that has yet to appear in the FCC database, SAGA COMMUNICATIONS, INC. is buying five stations in the HARRISONBURG, VA market from the VERSTANDIG family for an undisclosed price. The stations include News-Talk WSVA-A-W221CF, Sports WHBG-A (ESPN RADIO 1360), Top 40 WQPO (Q101), Hot AC WJDV (FRESH 96.1), and Active Rock WTGD (105.1 BOB ROCKS).
Saga President/CEO ED CHRISTIAN said, "These stations fit very well into our model of owning heritage radio stations that are very tightly focused on serving their local communities. We look forward to working with the existing staff to continue the great heritage that these stations have established. SAGA intends to continue building its business in both the radio and television markets by identifying and acquiring middle market stations."
KKVM/Vail, CO sold
And in another deal yet to appear in the FCC database, ALWAYS MOUNTAIN TIME, LLC is buying Triple A KKVM (THE MILE)/VAIL, CO from VAIL RADIO PARTNERS, LLC for $315,000. MEDIA SERVICES GROUP’s JODY MCCOY served as exclusive broker representing the seller in the deal.
