Detroit Music Awards Set For Friday, Will Honor Doug Podell, Bettye Lavette

The DETROIT MUSIC AWARDS will hold its 24th annual show honoring the local music scene on FRIDAY, APRIL 10th at the FILMORE, with veteran PD/Operations Manager/on-air personality DOUG PODELL and soul singer BETTYE LAVETTE among those being feted.
LAVETTE will also be among the performers with PHREDLEY BROWN, JIMMIE BONES, TWIZTID, THE INFATUATIONS, LOS HERMAONS, TERRI LEE & THE MUSTANGS and THE MOTOWN LEGENDS GOSPEL CHOIR.
Three DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS will be presented to native DETROITers who have left a lasting impact on the local music scene.
GREATER MEDIA Classic Rock WCSX (94.7)'s DOUG PODELL will be cited as the top PD/DJ, BETTY LAVETTE will be honored in the MUSICIAN category and THE ARK in ANN ARBOR cops the venue award.
Longtime local radio personality PODELL is being recognized for his work in raising money for MICHIGAN musicians with financial difficulties, including medical expenses. His efforts recently helped THE RATIONALS' SCOTT MORGAN get a liver transplant and resume performing.
