SUMMIT MEDIA Urban AC WJMZ (107./3 JAMZ)/GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG stopped playing music last night to discuss the controversial police shooting of WALTER SCOTT IN CHARLESTON, according to a report in GREENVILLE ONLINE.
The station took calls from listeners and other community leaders last night on-air from 6p-8p (ET) to discuss the incident, which has gained nationwide attention.
"It is an obligation of 107.3 JAMZ to address issues that affect our listeners and this is why we are giving them this platform to share their hearts and offer sound solutions to an issue that is prevalent in America today," said OM ELROY SMITH.
DJ KELLY MAC lead the discussion. The REVEREND JESSE JACKSON was expected to be one of the callers.
"This forum isn't meant for anything more than for our listeners to have a safe outlet for sharing their thoughts and feelings," SUMMIT MEDIA GREENVILLE President/GM KAROLYN MULVANEY told GREENVILLE ONLINE. "We have confidence in our state judicial system and believe justice will be served."
