Campaign Raises $175k For Coahoma Community College Radio Station In Mississippi

A fundraising campaign to support a new radio station on the CLARKSDALE, MI, campus of COAHOMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE has tallied $175,000.
The CLARKSDALE PRESS REGISTER reports the state is providing $150,000, while county supervisors this past week kicked in the remaining $25,000.
Democratic State Sen. ROBERT JACKSON says the FCC gave final approval to the station earlier this month. The goal is to have the 50,000-watt station operational by NOVEMBER
The junior college will build the station and hire experienced radio personnel to run it.
JACKSON says the school can use the station to promote the junior college, offer classes, connect people with job opportunities and help farmers in the DELTA.
He added fundraisers will be scheduled soon to raise the other money needed for the station.
