Joni Mitchell Camp Refutes TMZ Report On Her 'Unresponsive' Condition

The condition of legendary singer-songwriter JONI MITCHELL is now the subject of debate. First TMZ reported that she has fallen into a coma and cannot respond to anyone. MITCHELL’s longtime friend LESLIE MORRIS has filed legal documents to obtain conservatorship over her.
Yet the singer's representatives discounted that report, issuing a statement that was posted in HUFFINGTON POST:
"Contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet today, JONI is not in a coma. JONI is still in the hospital -- but she comprehends, she’s alert, and she has her full senses. A full recovery is expected. The document obtained by a certain media outlet simply gives her longtime friend LESLIE MORRIS the authority -- in the absence of 24-hour doctor care -- to make care decisions for JONI once she leaves the hospital. As we all know, JONI is a strong-willed woman and is nowhere near giving up the fight. Please continue to keep JONI in your thoughts."
TMZ has since updated its original story by reprinting a clause in the document which, among other things, notes that "At this time, she remains unconscious and unable to make any responses, and is therefore unable to provide for any of her personal needs."
MITCHELL, 71, was hospitalized late last month after collapsing in her L.A. home (NET NEWS 4/1). The last update on her health was posted to her official website on APRIL 3rd: “JONI remains under observation in the hospital and is resting comfortably,” read the statement. “Her progress is encouraging as she continues to improve each day.”
In the past, she has blamed her cigarette addiction to depriving her of her singing voice, and also claimed to suffer from MORGELLONS DISEASE, “a medical mystery that includes lesions and irritable fibers underneath the skin.”
