CONNOISSEUR MEDIA AC WKJY (K98.3)/LONG ISLAND, NY morning show co-host LEEANA KARLSON is doinga virtual run from LONG ISLAND to VIRGINIA on behalf of the local RONALD McDONALD HOUSE.
LEEANA will cover much of the virtual distance to VIRGINIA while training for the LONG ISLAND MARATHON WEEKEND events. She will be running the 13-mile half-marathon in UNIONDALE on SUNDAY (MAY 3rd).
LEEANA was matched with a young patient in VIRGINIA named LANDON through an organization called "I RUN 4 FAMILY" which was founded by TIMOTHY BOYLE to match physically active people with those of limited mobility to create mutual support systems. LANDON has DOWN SYNDROME and had surgery for two congenital heart defects when he was just five months old. LANDON's family stayed at RONALD McDONALD HOUSE in NORTH CAROLINA as a home away from home while doctors worked to save his life.
According to LEEANA KARLSON, "If it were not for TIM and 'I RUN 4," I would never have known about LANDON and his family. With my legs and LANDON's heart, we're unstoppable! Please support my virtual run to help families stay together when faced with a seriously ill child. In the blink of an eye lives can be uprooted and the nearness of family for a child with a life-threatening illness or condition can help heal in ways medicine cannot."
