Famed Fiddle Player Johnny Gimble Dead At 88

ALL ACCESS sends condolences to family and friends of legendary fiddle player JOHNNY GIMBLE, who died SATURDAY (5/9) In DRIPPING SPRINGS, TX. He was 88.
GIMBLE picked up the fiddle at age 10 and went on to become a band member for Country music icons BOB WILLS and WILLIE NELSON, among others. He was also the go-to fiddle player for NASHVILLE sessions, playing on records for numerous stars, including MERLE HAGGARD, WILLIE NELSON, GEORGE STRAIT, DOLLY PARTON and LORETTA LYNN. As a result, GIMBLE was honored with five Musician of the Year Awards from the COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION and nine from the ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC. Services are pending.
