Condolences to family and friends of BELL MEDIA News-Talk CFRA-A/OTTAWA news anchor LAUREN DAVIS, who passed away unexpectedly at 24, according to the station.
DAVIS is survived by her husband PHIL SHIRAKAWA and their son COLIN, born in 2014; she is also the daughter of ERIN DAVIS, morning co-host at ROGERS AC CHFI/TORONTO, who, with her husband ROB, left JAMAICA, from which CHFI planned to broadcast the morning show all week, to be with her family.
“LAUREN’s sudden passing was a shock to our CFRA and BELL MEDIA staff here in OTTAWA,” said BELL MEDIA Regional VP/GM Northern and Eastern ONTARIO and MARITIMES RICHARD GRAY in a statement obtained by the OTTAWA CITIZEN. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of LAUREN, who had just become a mom in the last year. We also want to extend our deepest sympathies to LAUREN’s husband, PHIL SHIRAKAWA, who is a producer with us here at CFRA. LAUREN will be deeply missed by her family and the many colleagues here who knew her so well.”
ROGERS RADIO SVP JULIE ADAM issued a statement reading, "It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I write this note. This morning, LAUREN DAVIS, beloved daughter of ERIN & ROB passed away suddenly. As you would expect…. ERIN and her husband ROB, along with MIKE COOPER and THE GENERAL have all returned to TORONTO and we will not be broadcasting from JAMAICA this week.... Our thoughts and prayers are with ERIN and ROB and their family and friends during this difficult time."
ERIN's own statement read, "Thank you to my extended CHFI family for the outpouring of love and support. I am overwhelmed by your heartfelt letters and messages to my family and me at this very difficult time in our lives.”
