The release of a new STEPHEN KING short story as an audiobook is being accompanied by a campaign with CBS RADIO that will include offering the story on PLAY.IT, the broadcaster's podcasting platform.
The story, "Drunken Fireworks," is one of the chapters in KING's next collection of short stories, "The Bazaar of Bad Dreams," due in NOVEMBER, but will be released exclusively in audio form on JUNE 30th by SIMON AND SCHUSTER AUDIO. To promote the release, the story, read by humorist and former CBS NEWS SUNDAY MORNING "Postcards from MAINE" segment talent TIM SAMPLE, will be streamed through PLAY.IT on JULY 2nd, promoted by CBS stations in over 20 markets. S&S will also offer a sweepstakes promoted by itself, CBS radio stations, and KING's website through broadcast, online, and social media.
"Great stories are often better when told out loud," said KING. "This event is a cool way for more people to discover just how fun listening to my stories can be."
"STEPHEN KING has always been a huge supporter of audiobooks and has embraced innovative marketing ideas for his books," said SIMON AND SCHUSTER AUDIO President and Publisher CHRIS LYNCH. "We are delighted to collaborate with our colleagues at PLAY.IT and CBS RADIO to again break new ground with this audio publishing event."
