The bill that would make the "Blue Alert" system for monitoring police officers in danger has passed both the House and Senate this week and is now awaiting President OBAMA's signature to become law. The system is already in place in 21 states and operates like an Amber Alert to send the word out through all media, including radio, to enlist the public to help find those responsible for injuring or killing officers.
The present bill, named after slain NEW YORK officers WENJIAN LIU and RAFAEL RAMOS, was introduced by Sens. LINDSEY GRAHAM (R-SC) and BEN CARDIN (D-MD) in the Senate and by Reps. DAVE REICHERT (R-WA) and BILL PASCRELL (D-NJ) in the House.
