SPANISH BROADCASTING SYSTEM first-quarter 2015 net revenues fell 2% year-to-year to $32.142 million, with radio off 1% to $29.227 million. The dip in radio revenues was blamed on decreases in local, national, and barter sales, partially offset by an increase in network sales through AIRE RADIO NETWORK. National sales were off in LOS ANGELES, NEW YORK, SAN FRANCISCO, and PUERTO RICO, while local sales were down in LOS ANGELES and PUERTO RICO and barter was off everywhere. Television fell 13% to $2.915 million. Operating income fell 11% to $5.8 million.
“During the first quarter, our AIRE RADIO NETWORK platform expanded its revenues as we continued to benefit from our broader reach and leading content offerings,” said Chairman/CEO RAUÌL ALARCOÌN, JR. “Our radio stations also continue to rank among the most successful platforms serving the Spanish-speaking population in the nation’s largest Hispanic media markets. On the digital side, we remain focused on strengthening our capabilities and integrated offerings as we look to attract new advertising partners and expand our revenue streams. Looking ahead, we will continue to execute our strategy of leveraging our strong audience shares and multi-media assets to connect advertisers with the rapidly expanding Latino population.”
