Cumulus Announces 'Nash NEXT' Country Talent Competition

CUMULUS is launching a talent competition for new Country artists, “NASH NEXT.” The contest will have fans help find and choose a winner through online engagement, with the interaction measured and counted towards the judging. Submissions will be taken through www.NASHNextCountry.com and promoted on over 200 CUMULUS stations, which the company says makes the contest “the largest online talent search ever undertaken.”
The website will open for artist and band registration on JUNE 15th, and fans will be able to judge the entrants through a series of challenges running through NOVEMBER; a panel of three music industry judges along with a “Spin Index” of social media activity and fan voting at the website will decide the winner. Challenges will include cover song, original jingles (with the last five words picked by fans via Twitter), an original song broadcast on Periscope, an original video on Instagram, original content on PicCollage, and a fully produced original music video including animation.
The winner will be signed to CUMULUS’ new NASH NEXT record label, and the top 10 will go on a national concert tour in 2016.
“Country is firmly established as the most popular music format and through NASH Next we are connecting directly with the fans and talent who are most engaged with the Country lifestyle,” said EVP/Content and Programming JOHN DICKEY.
“We are thrilled to partner with NASH in launching NASH NEXT,” said RON BERRYMAN, Founder/CEO of SUM, NASH NEXT’s technology partner. “This has to be one of the most innovative approaches in finding emerging modern Country talent, and engaging their fan base through the use of social media.”
