May 20, 2015 at 9:26 AM (PT)
TODAY (5/20) on UNIV. OF PENNSYLVANIA Triple A WXPN/PHILADELPHIA’s morning show, MICHAELA MAJOUN announced that after 25+ years as host, she has decided to leave the station to resume her career in writing. Her last day will be JUNE 30th.
“I’m leaving to pursue writing,” MAJOUN says. “I’m working on a couple of things right now. I’m finishing a screenplay to submit for a competition. I’m also working with a historian I recently visited in NEW ORLEANS to turn one of her books into a television series.”
GM ROGER LAMAY said, “We will all miss waking up to MICHAELA. There will be a huge void in the mornings on the radio in PHILADELPHIA, But we wish her the very best in the next 25+ years of her career.”
Assistant GM/Programming BRUCE WARREN said, “For 25 years MICHAELA has been a best friend to our listeners and they along with our staff will miss her. She’s an institution in PHILLY and on the airwaves here. It’s bittersweet.”
WARREN added that within the next week the morning-show host position will be posted to the UNIV. OF PENNSYLVANIA website and on XPN.org. Anyone interested should apply through the PENN site.
