BONNAROO's 'THROWBACK SUPERJAM DANCE PARTY" will take place SATURDAY night, JUNE 13th, at 1:30a (ET) during the four-day festival in MANCHESTER, TN.
Famous for its signature once-in-a-lifetime experiences, the SUPERJAM embodies everything that makes BONNAROO special, as it has come to be known as the festival where experimentation is encouraged, genres no longer exist and superstar musicians who may have never crossed paths become unexpected collaborators in pursuit of pure creation.
This year's SUPERJAM participants include PRETTY LIGHTS, DMC, METALLICA's ROB TRUJILLO, JACK ANTONOFF, CHANCE THE RAPPER, REGGIE WATTS, ERIC KRASNO, JAMIE LIDELL, JOHN MEDESKI, KARL DENSON, OTEIL BURBRIDGE, SNARKY PUPPY's ROBERT SEARIGHT, BRIAN COOGAN and THE BROWNOUT HORNS with special guests CHERUB, RHIANNON GIDDENS and more.
"My goal is to deliver a show we've never seen before and do it all in the name of pure fun," longtime SUPERJAM producer PAUL PECK said. "It's a leap of faith by both these artists and fans and it's very inspirational. Also, I love surprises."
Past SUPERJAM collaborations have included SKRILLEX, QUESTLOVE, DR. JOHN, JANELLE MONAE, JOHN PAUL JONES, ROBBIE KRIEGER, PHISH's TREY ANASTASIO, BEN HARPER, RZA, HERBIE HANCOCK, PHIL LESH, LARRY GRAHAM, TAJ MAHAL, BEN FOLDS, PHISH's MIKE GORDON, METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT, SOLANGE, DJ JAZZY JEFF, METHOD MAN, CHAKA KHAN, DEREK TRUCKS and JIM JAMES, among others.
The intensive work atmosphere that goes into making SUPERJAM has bred great friendships that are strong to this day. THE BLACK KEYS' DAN AUERBACH ended up producing DR. JOHN's GRAMMY-winning album "Locked Down," while BRITTANY HOWARD and ALABAMA SHAKES debuted new material at a rare performance at PRESERVATION HALL in NEW ORLEANS and JOE RUSSO is now the drummer in PHIL LESH & FRIENDS as a result of meeting the GRATEFUL DEAD bassist at the first SUPERJAM.
