If you believe the words of KOBALT MUSIC GROUP Founder/CEO WILLARD AHDRITZ, prosperity is right around the corner for the music business.
In a post dubbed "Here Comes The Golden Age Of Music," published today on popular content site MEDIUM.COM, AHDRITZ suggested that transparent royalty accounting is the key to turning the much-beleaguered business around.
"Why should music, which is beloved by people in every culture, across every language and corner of the globe, be anything less than an economic powerhouse?" he asks, echoing the words of many a 21st century music business executive.
"For music creators, one global hit can unlock millions of revenue streams from billions of transactions and micro-payments that add up to more demand and music usage than ever before."
AHDRITZ points to the industry's "outdated, back-end accounting systems" for not tracking down all the revenues being generated in the streaming world. He points to APPLE's acquisition of MUSIC METRIC and SPOTIFY's purchase of ECHO NEST as steps in the right direction, as well as his own company's recent launch of AMRA, which he calls "the first global digital music collection society" as well as KORE, a global collection system.
He concludes with "Technology is the key that opens the door to real transparency, enabling us to track, report and share our data like never before."
