Cumulus/Flint Account Exec John Risher Retires After 49 Years In The Business

CUMULUS/FLINT, MI Account Executive JOHN RISHER has announced his retirement after almost a half-century in broadcasting sales and radio management, effective JUNE 26th. RISHER began his career in 1966 at the legendary WIXY-A and WDOK/CLEVELAND, segued to WCAR-A/F/DETROIT, then moved to FLINT in JANUARY 1987 as GM of (then owner) FAIRCOM BROADCASTING’s WCRZ/WKMF-A, adding WWBN.
FAIRCOM then promoted RISHER to SVP, adding oversight of stations in MANSFIELD, OH and CHARLESTON, SC to his duties. After the stations were merged with REGENT COMMUNICATIONS, RISHER briefly retired, only to return to the radio industry and join CUMULUS MEDIA as an Account Executive in 2005, representing WDZZ, WFBE, WWCK, WWCK-A and WTRX-A.
“JOHN is a true professional and has been an amazing asset to CUMULUS and the radio industry as a whole," CUMULUS/FLINT VP/Market Manager ED LEICK said. "JOHN’s retirement after an incredible 49-year career is well-deserved. I am lucky to have served with him.”
