Longtime Oklahoma City Sportscaster, WWLS Host Bob Barry, Jr. Dies At 58

Condolences to family and friends of longtime OKLAHOMA CITY sports radio and TV personality BOB BARRY JR., who died on SATURDAY (6/20) at 58. BARRY was riding his motorcycle on North May Ave. in OKLAHOMA CITY when a car did a sudden U-turn in front of him, causing the fatal crash. The driver of the car, GUSTAVO GUTIERREZ-CASTILLO, was arrested for manslaughter, driving without a license, and possession of cocaine.
BARRY hosted 9a-noon on CUMULUS Sports WWLS (THE SPORTS ANIMAL)/OKLAHOMA CITY and served as Sports Director at crosstown NBC affiliate KFOR-TV. He was a native of nearby NORMAN and joined KFOR in 1982, taking over as Sports Director from his father BOB BARRY, SR. in 1998, after short stints at CBS affiliate KAUZ-TV/WICHITA FALLS and at independent KAUT-TV/OKLAHOMA CITY; he added the WWLS show in 1993.
