Condolences to family and friends of ANDY BLACKSMITH, co-host of iHEARTMEDIA/NEW HAMPSHIRE regionally syndicated morning show "THE MORNING BUZZ," who died SATURDAY (6/20) of heart failure in BOSTON. He was 49 and awaiting a heart transplant at the time of his passing.
A statement from the show's co-host GREG KRETSCHMAR read, "It is with heartbreaking sadness that we announce that we have lost our friend, brother, and co-worker ANDY BLACKSMITH. ANDY passed away this weekend at BRIGHAM AND WOMEN’S HOSPITAL in BOSTON after a 5 year battle, waiting for a heart transplant. Although he fought valiantly in the face of long odds, this weekend, his heart grew too weak to fight anymore. We are all heartbroken, and we’d like to ask for your love, and prayers of strength for his family- his Mom BARBARA, sister DEBBIE, and brother RICK. To all of our radio family listeners, there will be announcements in the coming days that will let you know about arrangements. In the meantime, ANDY would ask that you please visit www.DonateLifeNewEngland.org and register to be an organ donor. And while there are difficult and emotional days ahead, we will all be thinking of the 17 years of great memories we had alongside him. On behalf of all of us on THE MORNING BUZZ, myself, SCOTT, LAURA, KELLY and KAYLA - We Love You ANDY."
THE MORNING BUZZ airs on iHEARTMEDIA Active Rock WGIR (ROCK 101)/MANCHESTER, iHEARTMEDIA Active Rock WHEB/PORTSMOUTH, and other stations across NEW HAMPSHIRE.
