FCC EAS Revisions Go Into Effect July 30th
July 1, 2015 at 4:19 AM (PT)
The recent revisions to the Emergency Alert Systems standards will go into effect on JULY 30th after the publication of the rules in the Federal Register YESTERDAY (6/30).
The Sixth Report and Order establishes "six zeroes" (000000) as the national location code required to be recognized by all EAS equipment; requires all EAS equipment to be able to process a "National Periodic Test" event code; creates a mandatory "Electronic Test Report System" for test data; and requires participants to comply with "minimum accessibility" rules.
Participants will have 12 months from JULY 30th to comply with the changes.
