BMG To Administer Buddy Holly Catalog

BUDDY HOLLY's historic song catalog has a new home at BMG, according to BUDDY HOLLY EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION Co-Founder and Board member MARIA ELENA HOLLY.

“For almost 60 years, BUDDY’s loving fans and I have worked to bring his creativity to successive generations of fans and I have been looking for a steward to lead those efforts into the future, and I am very happy to announce that I have entrusted BUDDY’s legacy to BMG,” commented his widow.

MARIA ELENA added that BMG "has the passion and the resources to continue to serve BUDDY’s fans, and also to bring his incomparable artistry to a wider audience including a new generation of fans.

Said FOUNDATION BOARD Chairman/Co-Founder PETER BRADLEY, SR.: "BMG and MARIA ELENA have very exciting plans for the future of BUDDY's music and legacy, and the FOUNDATION will be keeping you updated as events unfold.”

In addition, BMG Pres./Creative & Marketing NORTH AMERICA LAURENT HUBERT has joined the Board of THE BUDDY HOLLY EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION.

Said HUBERT: “BUDDY HOLLY is truly one of the founding fathers of rock and roll. What is all the more extraordinary is that he completed this tremendous body of work by the time he was 22. MARIA ELENA and his fans can be assured that BMG and I take our responsibility to preserve and develop the BUDDY HOLLY legacy extremely seriously.  I am so pleased that I will be able to assist the FOUNDATION in accomplishing its important goals of promoting BUDDY’s legacy and encouraging musical education.”

As a part of the deal, BMG will contribute to several of the FOUNDATION’s efforts, including sponsorship of its songwriting retreats, which also endowing a university scholarship in his name.
