In a sudden turn of events, BIG MACHINE LABEL GROUP has acquired REPUBLIC NASHVILLE, which it co-owned with the UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP, THE TENNESSEAN reports. After months of speculation that BMLG was up for sale, owner SCOTT BORCHETTA decided to extent his group's distribution deal with UMG and purchase the rest of REPUBLIC NASHILLE, home of FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE, THE BAND PERRY, ELI YOUNG BAND, A THOUSAND HORSES and CASSADEE POPE.
BMLG earlier partnered with REPUBLIC to revive DOT RECORDS (NET NEWS 3/24/14), teamed up with CUMULUS to launch the NASH ICON label, and cut a deal with ZAC BROWN's SOUTHERN GROUND ARTISTS.
