Veteran radio news anchor BONNIE PETRIE is joining SCRIPPS News-Talk WTMJ-A/MILWAUKEE as co-anchor of "WISCONSIN'S MORNING NEWS," joining incumbent GENE MUELLER and filling the post left vacant by the recent departure of JODI BECKER.
PETRIE, most recently at RADIO ONE News KROI (NEWS 92)/HOUSTON, has anchored at CBS RADIO News KRLD-A/DALLAS, iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk KTRH-A/HOUSTON, iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk WGY-A/SCHENECTADY-ALBANY-TROY, and WIBX-A/UTICA; she has also hosted a podcast and website. She will join the station on JULY 13th and take the morning co-anchor role in AUGUST.
“We were looking for very specific qualities in a news anchor to join GENE MUELLER and WISCONSIN'S MORNING NEWS,” said VP/GM TOM LANGMYER. “BONNIE combines the qualities of experience in large news organizations, leadership depth, ideas, great writing ability, work-ethic, drive, an engaging personality and the passion for being an active part of our community.”
“I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to work alongside -- and learn from -- MILWAUKEE radio legend GENE MUELLER as we wake up WISCONSIN, every day, on WISCONSIN'S MORNING NEWS. My family has already been caught up in the warm embrace of MILWAUKEE and its people, and we look forward to making this culturally rich and beautiful city our home,” said PETRIE.
“I'm anxious to add BONNIE to the team. She's bringing great radio skills plus a genuine curiosity about our community to our lineup,” said MUELLER.
“We're excited to bring someone of BONNIE's stature to the WTMJ Newsroom. BONNIE's award-winning news reporting will be an asset to our listeners throughout WISCONSIN,” added Exec. Producer ERIK BILSTAD.
