DOWNTOWN MUSIC PUBLISHING has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with leading JAMICIAN music company ABOOD MUSIC, the publishing arm of JAMDOWN ENTERTAINMENT. The agreement was announced today by DOWNTOWN MUSIC PUBLISHING UK MD ROBERTO NERI.
ABOOD MUSIC boasts over 7,000 songs in its catalog, including reggae and dancehall hits from some of the biggest artists and producers in Jamaican popular music, including RDX, BOUNTY HUNTER, CORDELL "SCATTA' BURRELL as well as works from RANDY and JERMAINE JACKSON. Its parent company, JAMDOWN, was founded by OTHMAN MUKHLIS, former manager of reggae greats BLACK UHURU.
One of the leading catalogs in the JAMAICAN music community, ABOOD MUSIC credits include NINA SKY's BMI AWARD-winning "Move Ya Body" (#4 on BILLBOARD Hot 100) and PITBULL's debut release "Culo" --- both of which sample CORDELL "SCATTA' BURRELL's "Coolie Dance" -- as well as cuts on albums by SNOOP DOGG, T.I., LIL' KIM and MAJOR LAZER.
"We have real good momentum right now and some very exciting things in the pipeline," says ABOOD MUSIC founder MUKHLIS. "I very much look forward to working with DOWNTOWN -- we are a good match!"
Commented NERI: "OTHMAN has built up an impressive reputation and catalog. We feel privileged to be the first publisher to represent ABOOD globally and for DOWNTOWN to be his new home."
The addition of the ABOOD MUSIC catalog is the first agreement signed by the company's UK office since the acquisition of EAGLE-I MUSIC (NET NEWS 5/20).
