SONY MUSIC NASHVILLE has confirmed that RANDY GOODMAN has been named CEO, effective immediately. ALL ACCESS previously reported rumors about the appointment on MONDAY (NET NEWS 7/6). Additionally, KEN ROBOLD will serve as EVP/COO of the company and STEVE HODGES as EVP/Promotion and Artist Development, effective MONDAY, JULY 13th.
GOODMAN served in various executive positions at SONY during the 80s and 90s before leaving to serve as President of LYRIC STREET RECORDS in 1997. The label subsequently closed its doors in 2010 (NET NEWS 4/14/2010). ROBOLD joined UMG NASHVILLE in 2004 and served as GM/EVP before exiting in OCTOBER 2012 (NET NEWS 10/10/12) due to UMG restructuring after the acquisition of EMI. In 2013, ROBOLD joined ZAC BROWN BAND's SOUTHERN GROUND as President (NET NEWS 4/14/13), before exiting that post in 2014 after a restructuring of the label (NET NEWS 5/9/14). HODGES most recently served as VP/Promotion for CAPITOL NASHVILLE (NET NEWS 12/4/14). He originally joined CAPITOL in 1994 as a regional, before being named VP/Promotion in 2006 (NET NEWS 11/13/06) and then SVP/Promotion for both CAPITOL and EMI NASHVILLE in 2009 (NET NEWS 5/4/2009). HODGES became solely responsible for CAPITOL NASHVILLE after the merger with UMG took place.
“Having started my career at RCA RECORDS NASHVILLE, now a cornerstone of SONY MUSIC, this is a homecoming for me, and I couldn't be happier or more honored to be entrusted to lead this great group," said GOODMAN. "And getting to work with an icon of the business, [SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT CEO] DOUG MORRIS and his team, makes this opportunity all the more exciting. I'm thankful to DOUG for his belief in me and to [SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT EVP/Business Affairs and General Counsel] JULIE SWIDLER for her dedication and commitment to me and NASHVILLE during this transition.”
