HIP HOP PUBLIC HEALTH (HHPH) will hold their first annual “HEALTH IN KEY GALA,” SEPTEMBER 17th in NEW YORK at the EDISON BALLROOM. Hosted by rap legend DOUG E. FRESH, the evening will honor EASY AD, ASHANTI, RUSSELL SIMMONS, JORDIN SPARKS, CHUCK D and DMC.
Notable guests expected to attend include rap icons COLD CRUSH BROTHERS, ALLIANCE FOR PARTNERSHIP FOR A HEALTHIER GENERATION CEO LARRY SOLER, ALLIANCE FOR A HEALTHIER GENERATION CEO HOWELL WECHLER, AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SPORTS MEDICINE CEO JIM WHITEHEAD and former WHITE HOUSE Chief and LET'S MOVE Executive Director SAM KASS.
Said HHPH Founder/President DR. OLAJIDE WILLIAMS, "A child's attention has become a precious commodity with fierce competition for their food and lifestyle choices. We believe HHPH plays a unique role in the obesity space of economically disadvantaged communities by focusing on providing evidence driven media that engages, entertains, educates, and improves health behaviors of urban children through a musical pop culture health literacy platform featuring several notable artists. Our first annual gala will help us raise funds to support our on-the- ground activities and programs to end health illiteracy and improve the health of economically disadvantaged children”.
Added DOUG E. FRESH, "In HARLEM, where I'm from, and in many other inner city neighborhoods where healthy food is harder to find, where unhealthy eating habits have been passed down through the generations, and where the importance of exercise is often undervalued, a organization like HIP HOP PUBLIC HEALTH is literally a life-saver. ”
Individual tickets for the event are priced at $500 with a limited amount of friends and family tickets priced at $250. For sponsorship opportunities or additional information, visit www.HHPH.org.
