Folk singer, actor, and activist THEODORE BIKEL died of natural causes TUESDAY in LOS ANGELES. He was 91.
BIKEL, known for his BROADWAY performances as Captain Von Trapp in "THE SOUND OF MUSIC" and Tevye in "FIDDLER ON THE ROOF," an Oscar nominee for "THE DEFIANT ONES" in 1958, and a prolific recording artist with 37 albums (20 for ELEKTRA RECORDS), hosted "AT HOME WITH THEODORE BIKEL," a syndicated radio show, in 1957-62. He was also a political activist who served on the board of AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL and on the NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS.
