Radio One Launches A National Contest With Big Sean

RADIO ONE has teamed up with DEF JAM artist BIG SEAN to launch the ONE MAN CAN CHANGE THE WORLD national contest.  It will run from now through JULY 31st in 11 RADIO ONE participating Urban mainstream markets.

ONE MAN CAN CHANGE THE WORLD is the third single off his critically acclaimed album 'DARK SKY PARADISE.'  It is his first LP to debut #1 on SOUNDSCAN.

BIG SEAN said, "I'm incredibly excited to partner up with RADIO ONE to recognize a deserving individual who has made it their mission to make a difference. I'm looking forward to personally reviewing the video submissions and meeting the winner in PHILADELPHIA at my performance at MADE AMERICA in SEPTEMBER."

We can all see the challenges our communities face when we watch the news, but we often don't hear about the silent heroes working to improve our communities and touch peoples lives. This contest will give voice to many untold stories, and honor one special winner.”

“One Man Can Change the World” serves as a homage to BIG SEAN’s late grandmother MILDRED V. LEONARD who broke through the ceilings of poverty, racism and sexism to become one of the first female Black Captains in WWII, before becoming one of the first Black female Police Officers in DETROIT and serving an illustrious 30-year career with the DETROIT Public School System as a teacher and counselor. SEAN credits his grandmother for showing him that through hard work, commitment, perseverance and faith anything is possible. Now with the support of RADIO ONE, the ONE MAN CAN CHANGE THE WORLD national contest looks to find movers and shakers who actively work to empower others and build community.

One lucky winner (and a guest) will win a prize with an estimated value of $4,000 and personal time with BIG SEAN -- priceless! The winning package includes:

•    Two roundtrip airline or train tickets from the closest market to the winners hometown city
•    Three-night hotel accommodations for two
•    Two tickets to the MADE IN AMERICA Music Festival in PHILADELPHIA, PA. SEPT. 5th-6th,
•    Two passes to a BIG SEAN meet-and-greet
•    $2,500 towards the winners 501(c) charity of choice

Many are expected to enter the contest by submitting a two minute video on a participating RADIO ONE station website explaining how they are a stellar example of leadership and empowerment within their community for a chance to win. BIG SEAN will personally select the final winner.
