Ryen Russillo Staying At ESPN Radio While Colin Cowherd Confirms Departure; Bill Simmons Joins HBO

ESPN RADIO midday host RYEN RUSSILLO tweeted TODAY that he is continuing with the network. "I'm staying at ESPN," RUSSILLO offered this morning, adding, "Really appreciate people asking. Wanted to let you guys know, really happy to get to stay at a place like this after 10 years."
RUSSILLO's status was in question after his co-host SCOTT VAN PELT left the show to take over the late SPORTSCENTER on ESPN television; he had continued solo, with "SVP AND RUSSILLO" becoming "THE RUSSILLO SHOW," but his contract was up for renewal and the network's plans for the radio show were unclear.
At the same time, COLIN COWHERD confirmed his departure from the network on his show TODAY, saying, "Yes, I'm leaving ESPN," adding that ESPN had offered him a "great" contract but that he is looking for a new challenge. He did not say where he is headed, but mentioned doing a podcast, simulcast, and SIRIUSXM, and hinted that what has been reported about his destination is "pretty accurate"; most reports are suggesting that COWHERD will end up at FOX SPORTS.
And former ESPN contributor and GRANTLAND founder BILL SIMMONS has landed at HBO, where he will host a new sports talk show debuting in 2016 and will have a documentary production deal as well as video podcasts.
