Vivendi Extends Lucian Grainge As UMG CEO Through 2020

In a statement released TODAY by UMG parent company VIVENDI in FRANCE, the company confirmed UMG CEO LUCIAN GRAINGE, "has extended his duties until at least 2020. Appointed to this position in 2011, he worked for 30 years in various positions within the music industry. After joining UMG in 1986 to launch POLYGRAM MUSIC PUBLISHING UK, GRAINGE has notably served as President of UNIVERSAL MUSIC UK, and Pres./CEO of UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP INTERNATIONAL. He was the architect of the international expansion of UMG and the diversification of its activities."
Translated from French, the company also noted, "UMG will accelerate monetization of music in digital, expanding the dissemination of its audio and video content by multiplying partnerships with platforms, and strengthen strategic relationships with brands and sponsors. It will continue to be the reference in its sector in the accompaniment and development of artists. UMG will also continue its investments in markets with high potential for music, like AFRICA, INDIA and CHINA."
