To stream or not to stream, that is the question for artists like PRINCE, TAYLOR SWIFT and NEIL YOUNG, who have each recently pulled their music off SPOTIFY and other services.
Now PRINCE, who has kept his music on TIDAL, tweeted yesterday morning that he was releasing a new single, the funky "Stare," to SPOTIFY, one of the few recordings he has on the service.
PRINCE has been tweeting his attitudes about streaming, linking to an article in THE VERGE about a leaked licensing contract between SONY and SPOTIFY, as well as urging fans to read a BILLBOARD report on the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT's review of ASCAP and BMI regulatory agreements, which songwriters and music publishers have been calling "outdated," resulting in low streaming royalties.
