Former CLASSICAL SOUTH FLORIDA Treasurer RICHARD RAMPELL has asked FLORIDA Attorney General PAM BONDI to investigate the sale of his former company's sale of three stations in SOUTH FLORIDA, WKCP/MIAMI, WPBI/WEST PALM BEACH, and WNPS/FORT MYERS, FL, to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION, which has flipped the stations to its K-LOVE Contemporary Christian format.
The PALM BEACH POST reports that RAMPELL sent a letter to BONDI outlining how the CLASSICAL SOUTH FLORIDA board was bypassed by parent company AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA GROUP in the dealmaking process and asks that the AG's office block the sale's closing until a "full airing of the grievances" of the board and public takes place. He also claims that APMG General Counsel SYLVIA STROBEL "bullied and threatened" the CSF board, telling them in a JUNE 11th email that they could be sued or ejected for interfering with the sale.
The POST also reports that MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC SCHOOLS News-Talk WLRN/MIAMI will add Classical on its HD2 channel and online starting AUGUST 10th.
