ALL ACCESS has learned that NIELSEN is testing its enhancements to its Critical Band Encoding Technology (CBET) in WASHINGTON and BALTIMORE during the month of AUGUST.
The company told subscribers about the test of CBET in a memo that says that "The enhanced CBET will increase code density to help improve pick up in challenging environments and will allow for higher code amplification levels with industry acceptance. These enhancements will not compromise audio quality and will be universally applied system-wide."
The memo says that the testing in WASHINGTON and BALTIMORE will be done on a separate encoder and results will be shared before the advanced CBET is rolled out later this year.
The enhancements to CBET were announced in the recent conference call with clients responding to the use of the Voltair system by some stations to improve their chances of their code registering with NIELSEN's PPM system.
