BROOKLYN’s rocktronic duo RATATAT (MIKE STROUD and EVAN MAST) and DJ/producer/remixer/artist JAMIE XX recently performed and recorded in front of live audiences at L.A.'s SONOS STUDIOS. The two sessions, hosted by JASON BENTLEY, will air THURSDAY, AUGUST 13th and FRIDAY, AUGUST 14th, respectively, at 11:15a (PT) on SANTA MONICA COLLEGE Variety KCRW's award-winning show "Morning Becomes Eclectic."
RATATAT performed songs from their recently released fifth studio album, "Magnifique," their first in five years, marking a return to their core guitar-driven sound after the sonic experimentation of their last two records. The duo played KCRW faves “Nightclub Amnesia” and “Cream on Chrome,” as well as selections from their catalog, to a packed house of band enthusiasts.
JAMIE XX performed songs from his debut solo album, "In Colour," released earlier this year. He treated the crowd to an all-vinyl DJ set that included “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)," one of the station's songs of the summer, instantly turning the space into a bonafide dance club that had everyone up on their feet.
After airing on MBE, both sessions in their entirety will be available for video and audio streaming on demand and in HD at KCRW.com. .
