Former INTERSCOPE honcho JIMMY IOVINE, who's now working with APPLE MUSIC, places blame for the current state of the music business on -- technology geeks. THE NEW YORK POST reports IOVINE, "who helped launch the career of EMINEM, believes a generation of youngsters didn’t get turned on by live music, but rather by the first time they played 'f–king Mortal Kombat'.”
He added, "Those youngsters, now grown up, work at tech companies 'like GOOGLE, SPOTIFY and PANDORA,” calling those companies, “culturally inept.”
“The last 15 years of the record industry allowing itself to get pounded and not moving the ball forward, I think it’s going to affect popular music,” added IOVINE, telling the paper that, "Music was one, two and three for anyone between the ages of 15 and 25. 'It’s not anymore'."
