Radio and TV reporter DAVID HINCKLEY and music critic JIM FARBER were among the veteran reporters laid off by the downsizing NEW YORK DAILY NEWS this week.
HINCKLEY, well known for his detailed coverage of the NEW YORK radio market, was with the paper for three decades and FARBER was the paper's chief music critic for 25 years before being let go in a purge that hit close to 50 reporters and included star columnist and former radio host MIKE LUPICA and longtime baseball writer BILL MADDEN as well as sportswriters FILIP BONDY and HANK GOLA.
HINCKLEY's last columns, reviewing ABC's "THE MUPPETS" and FOX's "SCREAM QUEENS," appeared in SUNDAY's paper. FARBER's review of DARLENE LOVE's new album appeared in last WEDNESDAY's paper.
