Dave Holmes Retires From KATM/Modesto, PD Nikki Thomas On The Hunt For Replacement

Longtime CUMULUS Country KATM (KAT COUNTRY 103)/MODESTO, CA afternoon guy DAVE HOLMES has announced he will retire from his position after 23 years with the station.
HOLMES shared the news with friends and listeners TODAY (11/5) via FACEBOOK saying, "I have thought long and hard about this decision for the past year. I have come to the conclusion that I will be exiting KAT COUNTRY. I suffer from chronic pain, which I have for over a decade, and it's gotten to the point where the pain is just too distracting. For the past 23 years, KAT COUNTRY was a giant part of my life. I've spent over a third of my life at KAT, and I wouldn't have it any other way. With that being said, I will leave on top. Whoever takes my place will be very lucky. KAT COUNTRY isn't just a radio station, it's a FAMILY. So when my replacement is found, please treat them like part of the family. I will continue living in MANTECA. I will continue doing commercials in my studio. I will continue building my global audience on RETRO RADIO. Don't be surprised to see me at a TOYS FOR TOTS appearance or another charity event. I am not going away, I'll just be in a different location."
Meanwhile, back at KATM, PD NIKKI THOMAS tells ALL ACCESS, "Those are some big shoes to fill. DAVE is family to us. He's had stellar ratings since he's been on the air -- 35 years in radio, and 23 years here at KAT. He's got a big voice, a big heart, and a big personality. We are looking for DAVE's replacement, and they will have to be special. I'm looking for someone who knows how to talk to people, not at people. Someone who knows how to have fun, but can convey a mood and heart and who is dynamic on air." If you think you fit the bill and are ready to join a station with a veteran staff and a rare opening, rush your materials to THOMAS via email.
