TAMPA police detectives have identified a disgruntled ex-employee of the BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE SHOW as the person who stole a HULK HOGAN sex tape, leaked parts of it to the media, and tried to extort the pro wrestler with it, FOX 13 NEWS reports.
MATT "SPICEBOY" LOYD is alleged to have stolen "several sex tape DVDs from BUBBA's office" and then shopped clips of the sex tape and sold it to TMZ to "build interest." He then contacted a sex tape broker named KEITH DAVIDSON to "engage in the extortion of TERRY BOLLEA," aka HULK HOGAN.
"Detectives say LOYD tried to hide his tracks by paying a middleman to do the dirty work. He recruited his wife TASHA's best friend from high school, LORI BURBRIDGE," who "was to be paid $10,000 for her involvement." To hide his involvement, LOYD used multiple fake e-mails and the alias "JANERRO" to deal with GAWKER, which ultimately published the footage." Why all the subterfuge? "BURBRIDGE told detectives LOYD was 'trying to make BUBBA sweat' after a falling-out."
Nevertheless, no charges against LOYD were filed by the HILLSBOROUGH STATE ATTORNEY's Office. Spokesperson MARK COX said: "We reviewed the case in great detail -- the TPD report is only part of the overall investigation. We came to the conclusion that we had no reasonable expectation of success in prosecution."
"I think my rights have been violated," BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE said, "but who's gonna listen to me? Nobody can fight the good ol' boy network."
