An AUSTRIAN disc jockey has been forced to work on the holidays after he locked himself in the studio, playing WHAM!'s "Last CHRISTMAS" 24 times in a row, according to a report in REUTERS.
JOEL KOHLHOFER only agreed to stop when his four-year-old daughter called the studio to complain the song made everyone "mad." All his co-host PATRICIA JORDAN could do during the 8a show was watch from outside the studio as KOHLHOFER played the song for two straight hours.
"I wanted to play it all day, because I love mu daughter so much, I gve in to her request," said KOHLHOFER on-air.
TIMM BODNER, programming Chief of the station ANTENNE KAERNTEN in the AUSTRIAN province of CARINTHIA, said the 27-year-old DJ barricaded the studio last FRIDAY with a wooden stick to play the prank on his listeners. It wasn't the first time a staunt occured at the same radio station. Three years ago, DJ THOMAS AXMANN played the same song 16 times in a row.
"In general, it was funny but there must be consequences," BODNER said in a telephone conversation. "As a consequence he will have to work tomorrow on CHRISTMAS and on NEW YEAR'S EVE."
The station's FACEBOOK page and social media was flooded with comments, none of which were from either GEORGE MICHAEL or ANDREW RIDGELEY.
