A change in the 10a-noon slot is coming to DALY XXL COMMUNICATIONS News-Talk WMEX-A/BOSTON with the departure of its simulcast of BOSTON HERALD RADIO's "MORNING MEETING" and the arrival of market TV news veteran JOE SHORTSLEEVE and political strategist and PR firm owner DIANE MCNAMARA, effective FEBRUARY 1st.
SHORTSLEEVE, known for his many years at crosstown CBS O&O WBZ-TV and more recently Senior Advisor at business and political communications firm LIBERTY SQUARE GROUP, said, “After more than 30 years in television news, I’m thrilled to be at a point in my life where I can try things I’ve always wanted to do. Working in radio is right up there. I’ll have more time to share the pressing stories of the day while crossing over to other avenues of our culture that don’t fall into hard news. We have a definite mission to help communities and neighborhoods too – to have a positive impact on people's lives. Maybe it's as simple as calling City Hall and helping a listener get their street plowed."
"The lines between entertainment and politics have become more and more blurred which makes for an exciting time to talk about how our celebrity culture overlaps with our political culture,” said MCNAMARA. “JOE and I each bring something very unique to the conversation which will certainly make for compelling radio,” she adds.
"BOSTON is one of the most competitive markets in the country so we knew we had to bring in top-tier talent to deliver thought-provoking commentary that you won’t hear anywhere else,” said COO/GM BRYAN BERNER. “We’ve done just that with MICHELE MCPHEE who has been with us from the start; SANDY SHACK who came to WMEX from THE HOWIE CARR SHOW and now JOE SHORTSLEEVE and DIANE MCNAMARA. When you tune into 1510 you hear voices you recognize, engaging debates, and calls to action most relevant to the region. We couldn’t be happier or more excited about the future of WMEX.”
