The RADIO TELEVISION DIGITAL NEWS ASSOCIATION's answer to "TED Talks" are "ED Talks," a video series named after EDWARD R. MURROW and offering best practices advice for newsrooms. The videos, beginning with MURROW Award winner BOYD HUPPERT and KEVIN SULLIVAN of TEGNA NBC affiliate KARE-TV/MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, will initially be available for free to everyone but will become an exclusive benefit of RTDNA membership later this year.
"When RTDNA recently surveyed journalists to find out about their needs and interests, one of the most common concerns that surfaced was training," said project leader and RTDNA Region 4 Director SCOTT LIBIN. "Journalists want more of it, but they can't always travel to get it, and they need it in practical forms that are easy to fit into their busy schedules."
"You've probably heard the adage, 'We only get one chance to make a first impression,'" said HUPPERT. "What's true for business meetings and singles bars, is true for television news too. We'll share a tip to help viewers make an instant connection with the people in our stories."
