WIP/Philadelphia's Josh Innes Apologizes For Racial Comments About Eagles' Jason Kelce

CBS RADIO Sports WIP/PHILADELPHIA afternoon host JOSH INNES has apologized for using a racial epithet based on a MALCOLM X quote to describe PHILADELPHIA EAGLES center JASON KELCE on the air TODAY (1/19).
INNES, in trying to explain his opinion that KELCE, who is white, is an apologist for EAGLES ownership and management, said on the show that he was at the MEMPHIS airport watching the film "MALCOLM X," and, talking to co-host HOLLIS THOMAS, compared KELCE to slaves who pandered to the plantation owners, citing the archaic term used by MALCOLM X (portrayed by DENZEL WASHINGTON in the film).
The comments hit the Internet on PHILADELPHIA sports commentary site CROSSING BROAD, then on DEADSPIN, which called INNES a "PHILLY Radio Dipsh-t," and THE BIG LEAD. PHILLY.COM's ROB TORNOE reported that INNES apologized on the air before the show was over, saying, “I’m the dumbest human being on the planet ... I apologize for that, I truly do. I’m an idiot ... I see people are making fun of me across the country, and you should be, because I’m stupid."
