CBS RADIO Sports WFAN-A-F/NEW YORK afternoon host MIKE FRANCESA told FS1 host KATIE NOLAN on her "GARBAGE TIME" podcast that he will leave WFAN after his contract expires at the end of 2017, reports NEWSDAY's NEIL BEST.
FRANCESA, who has made comments in the recent past indicating that his future with WFAN was in question and who has hinted that he has tried to get out of his contract early, told NOLAN in a show recorded TODAY (1/19) and to be released THURSDAY that "At the end of ’17, there will be no more FAN, that I promise.... I’m not saying I’m leaving the business. I’m leaving MONDAY to FRIDAY, 5 1⁄2 hours, 'FAN. I am bringing the curtain down on that part of the show,"
"I am not saying I’m not going to work again," FRANCESA added. "I’m not saying I’m not going to do anything ever again. What I’m saying is that part of my life is ending at the end of ’17.”
