CHICAGOLAND RADIO AND MEDIA is reporting that CHICAGO-based digital news app RIVET RADIO has laid off workers as it repositions its operations from business-to-consumer towards business-to-business, offering its platform for third parties to use for serving up content and less for creating its own content.
The site reports that some staffers were released on THURSDAY and that the number of positions cut in the last few months is in dispute, with the company saying that seven positions were dropped but three new hires were made, making a net loss of four jobs.
The company had been offering a news service with original reports in a customized stream, but is now focusing on using its technology to enable other parties to distribute content.
