BIG MACHINE artist TIM MCGRAW is sharing his emotional journey with radio, and giving a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process of his current single "Humble And Kind."
"We just dropped GRACIE off at school maybe three or four days before I went in to do the vocal, and it was the last vocal I did on this record," said MCGRAW. "And I went in and I kept trying to do it and I kept blubbering all the way through it. I couldn’t get through the song without just losing it, and I would get through two or three lines and then I would fall apart, and I couldn’t do it, so I had to leave cause I had to go to a volleyball game. I got in the car and I was leaving and I called FAITH."
"She said, ‘Well, you’re not gonna make the volleyball game cause you’re gonna hit five o’clock traffic so you might as well just go to the house,’ so I kept headed to the house and after about five or six miles I called BYRON and asked him if I could turn around and come back and work on that song, and so I turned around and I cried all the way back to the studio and tried to get it out of my system and sung it over and over in my head to try to get to where I could do the song without being too emotional. I walked in the studio and I think it worked, so I got in there and made it through. In 15 minutes I got the song done without crying too much."
MCGRAW posted, "This song is so special to me. I really wanted a video that showed the universality of the message of Humble and Kind. Thanks to WES EDWARDS for executing this vision and to OPRAH WINFREY for lending us scenes of Belief from all over the world. I hope you like it as much as I do."
